Dr. Terri Deayon

Dr. Terri Deayon is in her 20th year in the field of education.  Her roles have included elementary classroom teacher, middle school math teacher, middle school instructional coach, and elementary principal.  She is currently in her 8th year as an elementary principal.  She was recognized as a Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals Exemplary New Principal for the 2014-2015 school year and named the St. Joseph PTA Outstanding Principal in 2015-2016.  Dr. Deayon joined the Park Hill School District in 2018 as principal at Southeast Elementary School.  Effective this school year, she was appointed as the Special Advisor to the Superintendent for Equity and Culturally Responsive Teaching in the Park Hill School District.  She has a passion for equity and inclusion, especially as it pertains to teaching and learning and school systems.

Dr. Deayon is a 1995 graduate of Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Missouri, with a Bachelor of Science in Education.  In 2012, she earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Arkansas.  In 2020 she completed her Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a Specialization in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Last year, her work was published in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Digital Commons Journal of Women in Educational Leadership.

She and her husband, Harrion, have two children, Taylor and Tarrin.  Taylor resides in Denver, Colorado.  Tarrin is attending her first year of college at UMKC.
