In Spring 2014, Southeast was awarded a grant  through the Franklin Covey Foundation to begin implementing components of The Leader in Me. The Leader in Me focuses on developing leaders with 21st century skills.  It is an innovative, school-wide model that enables educators to unleash each child's full potential.

The grant includes The Leader in Me books by Stephen Covey, mentor texts for each grade level to aide in introducing and teaching the habits to our students, visual lettering for around the building so students can visually see the habits and professional development time for our Leader in Me team to work collaboratively on the implementation plan for Line Creek.

Our hope is that you will partner with us in promoting and using these habits at home too.  We think you will find them easy to incorporate into your daily life and that students will be excited to use them at home and school.

The 7 Habits for Healthy Kids:

Be Proactive

I am a responsible person. I choose my actions, attitudes, and moods.

Begin With the End in Mind

I plan ahead and set goals. I look for ways to be a good citizen.

Put First Things First

I spend my time on things that are most important. I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.

Thin Win-Win

I balance the courage of getting what I want with consideration of what others want. I want everyone to be a success.

Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood

I listen to others’ ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their viewpoints.

I get along well with others, even people who are different than me. I work well in groups.

Sharpen the Saw

I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep. I spend time with my family and friends.

Habit 8: Find Your Voice
I have found something that I am good at and really like doing. I am proud, but do not boast. Instead, I use my expertise to help and inspire others.
